Eligibility for Scholarships

The theme of the 2020 Summit is "Strength in Diversity." This will be reflected in the content and deliberations of the daily sessions and will be considered in the allocation of the scholarships. The Summit aims to cover many different SBCC disciplines and topic areas, have representation from a wide geographic range, be gender-inclusive and have strong participation of young professionals and students.

The intention of the scholarships is to increase access to the 2020 Summit for youth (29 years old or younger) along with students and practitioners from low- and middle-income countries.

You are welcome to apply if you:

  • originate from, work in or are a student from a low- or middle-income country
  • are 29 years of age or younger
  • will not be able to attend the Summit without a scholarship
  • have not received a scholarship to previous SBCC Summits (2016 Addis Ababa; 2018 Nusa Dua or 2019 Abidjan)

Submitting an abstract is not a requirement for scholarship eligibility.

  • submission of a short paragraph on why you should be selected for a scholarship
  • response to one of three questions related to the Summit sub-themes outlined in the application form
