Organizers and Steering Committee

The SBCC Summit will be hosted by a consortium of international and local partners including the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs, UNICEF, the American University of Beirut Center for Public Health Practice, Puntos de Encuentro, PRICELESS SA, IYAFP, Quilt.AI, Breakthrough India and Real Travel Services

Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs (CCP) believes in the power of communication to save lives by empowering people to adopt healthy behaviors for themselves, their families and their communities across the globe. Based at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and building on more than 30 years of experience, innovation and research, CCP has increased uptake of modern contraception, boosted the number of people tested and treated for HIV, given more children the opportunity to sleep under mosquito nets across Africa and Asia to improve health and economies across the world. These successes in social and behavior change stems from our reliance on proven behavioral science interventions.

UNICEF works in some of the world’s toughest places, to reach the world’s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential. Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone. And we never give up.

The Center for Public Health Practice (CPHP) of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) at the American University of Beirut (AUB), advances evidence-based public health practice in Lebanon and the region while enhancing the academic experience of students and faculty. It builds solid community partnerships and develops human capabilities to impact the health of populations. The Center nurtures the culture of collective responsibility, diversity, and social justice.

Puntos de Encuentro (“Meeting Points”) is a Nicaraguan feminist communication for social change NGO that works throughout Central America for gender equality and human rights. Puntos’ strategy combines home-grown mass media edutainment combined with on-the ground education, organizing and movement building to promote “democracy on the streets, at home and in bed”, focusing sexual and reproductive rights, the prevention of the multiple manifestations of violence, and the democratization of political culture.

PRICELESS SA, which stands for Priority Cost-Effective Lessons for System Strengthening in South Africa, is a research-to-policy unit that provides evidence, methodologies and tools for effective decision-making in health. Priority areas are: maternal and child health, non-communicable diseases, nutrition in the first 1,000 days, preventing road traffic injuries and deaths, health-promoting polices, and health systems and health systems reform.

IYAFP is a global youth-led organization and a trailblazer in the field of Sexual Reproductive Health Rights and Justice (SRHRJ). IYAFP works to advance SRHRJ for young people everywhere and to ensure meaningful adolescent and youth engagement in policymaking and programming. As one of few global organizations that exist for young people, entirely led by young people, IYAFP plays a strategic role in elevating the voices and expertise of young people. We leverage youth energy, creativity and expertise to improve advocacy and set a fully youth-led agenda.

Breakthrough is a global human rights organization driving the culture change we need to build a world in which all people live with dignity, equality, and respect. We do this using a potent mix of media, arts, and tech with an intersectional feminist approach. To learn more, visit: https://inbreakthrough.org/

Quilt.AI is a mission-first technology company, seeking to increase empathy in the world. Using the Internet as a source of knowledge, inspiration and communication, Quilt.AI works on issues including climate change, gender equity and health across the world. Their work has focused on a range of thematic areas across the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To learn more, please visit: https://www.quilt.ai/
