
Laraib Abid
Laraib Abid is a lecturer, activist, trainer and founder of Making A Society Healthier And Lively (MASHAL). She is the SRHR focal person in the Prime Minister National Youth Council where she is working on digital roll out sessions and policy making focusing on sexual and reproductive health and rights, raising her voice for young people to get access to information and services. Among her extensive experience, she has developed Pakistan’s First Mobile Application of its kind, Bridge The GAP (Giving Access to Planning), which spreads awareness about HIV/AIDS and contraceptive methods for men and women in English and Urdu. The mobile application also features an audio version to ensure that it meets the needs of specially abled people. The main component of the application is the geo-fenced family planning services available nearby for free, just a click away. Psychologist centers providing counseling to young people for free of cost are also included with their phone numbers in the mobile and web app. Bridge the GAP has been included by WHO on their learning portal in 2022. Laraib is a 120 Under 40 Gates Institute Family Planning leader, and her passion is to work for reproductive health and rights.
